I’m less than thrilled with my work on these soaps. I ran out of time and I rushed and when I rush…things just don’t go as I planned. They’re okay, but by no means anything special.
Dessert 1: Coconut covered petit fours. I think these are cute, but completely pointless as a soap. I made my CP cubes then coated them in clear MP and dipped them in dried coconut.
Dessert 2: Decorative petit fours. If I’d done a better job at pipping I’d be happier with these. The cubes are CP. The decorative parts are mostly CP piped with MP soap fondant for the flowers. And a couple of them I used the sugar pearls on.
Dessert 3: Mini Cakes. CP soap with MP soap fondant and sugar pearls. Let’s just say getting all those sugar pearls on these was a pain in the backside :)! Oh my word. I do like the effect of these, but again it’s not really a “useful” soap and it took me WAY too long to accomplish these.
Dessert 4: Mini Bundt Cake. Let’s just say this one was a complete disaster and leave it at that :P.
There you have it…a less than stellar set of mini soap desserts *sigh*

Tried something new…it didn’t quite go as planned. I did learn what NOT to do next time though. Was playing around with embedding famcy MP shapes into a bar and learned a few things in the process.
- I was trying to add just a drop of blue to make the clear MP a tad clearer and I added too much blue. Lesson: CAREFUL with the amount you add.
- Added glitter. It overtook the clear soap. Lesson: use a finer glitter and don’t use as much.
- You can’t really see the embeds. Lesson: I need to embed them closer to the top.
- Patience :-P You can see where my soap broke through the clear layer…I was just too impatient.
So I might play around some more with this. It’s nothing I plan to sell, but I do like to on occasion try and expand my MP skills :D

This little post is for Amy over at Great Cakes Soapworks and her mini challenge to combine MP and CP soap.
I do make two soaps that are a mix of CP and MP soap…probably not how most people imagined mixing them. I embed MP pieces on top of a CP loaf. My Black Raspberry and Vanilla soap and my Strawberries and Champagne soap I embed raspberries and strawberries on top. I used to make them in CP but I have only one mold for these embeds and I was having to make the embeds over a whole week of soap making to gt enough to embed. It wasn’t working well…that’s when I decided to try making them with MP soap and see how they worked. I must say it worked like a charm. I love these soaps. They’re different and mimic their name and I constantly get compliments on them. I just restocked on them as I’m running low. Here they are:
(I apologize for the bad pictures…the light was awful.)

Make bath time extra fun! Embed an eraser into your bar of soap! You can put it a clear/see through (transparent) base so the kids can see that there is a surprise in there they can work towards! Or you can embed it in opaque soap so it’s a complete surprise when they start to see the eraser!
Pictures below the cut!

I was having way too much fun!
The Shea Butter batch I made came out really nice!
Baby Soap! I can’t wait to TRY this soap. It just feels so nice holding it, smooth and silky…makes me think it will be awesome on the skin! Here’s to hoping it is!

Last night I was restless. I could sit still long enough to read. I couldn’t focus on tv. I had already cleaned my place and done laundry…and it was too early to go to bed…so what did I do? Made a batch of Springtime Honeysuckle M&P Shea Butter soap!
I am READY for Spring to arrive. I blame the 50 degree weather we had yesterday. It made me restless to be outside again (and it reminded me how nice it is to not be freezing my tail off!)
Here are my springtime soap bars created from last nights restlessness! Enjoy!
